Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Desktop
- Copy the server URL. Open Settings → AI assistants and copy the server URL,
https://mcp.dbtempo.com. - Add a custom connector in your assistant. Paste the URL where your assistant adds a connector or MCP server, then choose Connect.
- Sign in and choose Allow. dbtempo shows the app's name and the address it sends you back to. Check the address is the assistant you expect before you allow it.
Connect Cursor or Claude Code with a key
Clients set up from a config file use a key instead of signing in. In Settings → AI assistants, choose Create key. The key works only for AI assistants, not for the dbtempo CLI, and is shown once with the setup ready to paste.
claude mcp add --transport http dbtempo https://mcp.dbtempo.com \
--header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"What your assistant can do
- List your projects, databases and open recommendations.
- Read one recommendation in full, with its fix, risks and rollback.
- Send dbtempo a query, an EXPLAIN plan or a question. This runs the same analysis as the chat box, uses your credits the same way, and saves it as a thread you can open in dbtempo.
- Report how much of this month's allowance is used, as a percentage.
What it cannot do, and where your data goes
Your assistant cannot change a database, apply a recommendation, or run SQL of its own. Every answer it receives is marked as advice to review, and SQL in it is quoted, not run.
Disconnect an assistant
In Settings → AI assistants, choose Revoke next to the app. It cannot get new access, and access it already holds stops within an hour. For a key, revoke it under Settings → API keys; that takes effect at once.
